Comprehensive Student Health Services

The APC School of Medicine provides a comprehensive, quality and affordable health services to its students, personnel and nearby communities.

The Health Services Center is managed by qualified doctors, nurses and dentists and is equipped with:

  • Medical and dental clinics with basic facilities, including reception area, filing/data section, examination and treatment room

  • Basic medical equipment and supplies including emergency medicines, ambubag, oxygen tank, intravenous fluids, sphygmomanometers, thermometers, diagnostic sets, stethoscopes, treatment cart and nebulizer

  • Basic dental equipment and supplies including dental autoclave (sterilizer), medicines, and filling instruments

The activities include:

  • Conduct of periodic physical and dental examinations among DMCCFI students and personnel.

  • Conduct of clinical laboratory tests, such as complete blood count, urinalysis, fecalysis, and screening for hepatitis B and other necessary tests.

  • Implementation of sectoral department of health and school health-based programs.

  • Conduct of medical and dental outreach in coordination with colleges or departments.

  • Establishments of linkages with external governmental agencies.

  • Conduct of periodic medical and dental consultation among students and personnel.

  • Responding to emergency calls and making appropriate referrals if complicated.

The Health Services Programs involve health promotion, disease prevention, screening tests, outreaches, referral of cases and curatives such as:

  • Health promotion through lectures, symposia and utilization of health information materials

  • Disease prevention through environmental sanitation, immunization (eg, tetanus, hepatitis B, measles, pneumonia, flu), fumigation for arthropod-borne illnesses

  • Screening tests for osteoporosis, cancer, lifestyle diseases (hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and disorders related to recreation such as smoking, alcohol and drugs)

  • Outreach through socio-civic and barangay programs

  • Referral of cases including medical and surgical emergencies and extremes, as well as special needs

  • Curatives for common illnesses and abnormal physical examination findings
